Over hundred geomatics related professionals and students specializing in the field of geomatics are at the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) in Lawrencetown this week to take a closer look at topics, trends and technologies used in high resolution mapping areas where land meets the sea.

“This work is critical, especially to to enhance and help Nova Scotia’s rural economy when it comes to development of our coastal resources,” said Tim Webster, who is the lead scientist with the Applied Geomatics Research Group at NSCC Middleton campus and chair of the N.S. Canadian Institute of Geomatics.

A workshop called high resolution mapping in the Coastal Zone features speakers from Sweden, Ottawa and the AGRG presenting information to provincial and federal government officials, students and the private sector.
