This years Geomatics Atlantic is taking place in Halifax, November 14th and 15th. The theme for the event is Oceans of Data and will be exploring innovation, cutting edge R&D, and the future of geomatics in the marine environment. (Additional details on Geomatics Atlantic 2018 including special key note speakers and conference presentations is available at https://geomatics.one)
Part of the Geomatics Atlantic Conference includes the Geomatics on the Town socials
Geomatics on the Town is a way to keep the conversations from the conference going while you enjoy great food and drink offered by establishments in Downtown Halifax. We will make the reservations and create the discussion topics.
There will be “topic hosts” who will lead the conversations. All groups will be departing from the Lord Nelson Hotel at 6:30 PM on November 14th to walk to the restaurant as a group.
Space in each group is limited so please sign-up for your preferred topic online now (see list below). Sign-up sheets will also be available at the Conference registration desk.
How it works:
Step #1 - Pick a Group: when you arrive at he registration desk at the conference, there will be sign-up sheets with discussion topics, a restaurant, price category ($$ or $$$) and walking distance. Choose a group by the topic of interest, your cuisine and atmosphere, your budget or how far you are willing to walk. Note that each reservation will have a limited number of people so sign-up ASAP.
Step #2 – Join your Group: at 6:30 PM on the 14th you will meet with the rest of the attendees that chose the same theme as you at designated locations in the Lord Nelson (in the Georgian Lounge and Lobby).
Step #3 – Meet your Host(s): Your host(s) will be at the designated spot in the Lord Nelson to lead the way to the reserved restaurant and they will have questions to kick start the conversation. They will also be equipped with maps/directions if you want to find your own way (if you will be joining late you can pick-up a map/directions from the registration desk before 6 pm).
Step #4 – Enjoy: have an informal discussion on the theme topic or take the conversation wherever it leads, make connections over similar interests and enjoy good food and drink.
